How we can ensure a successful routine in the new year

Is it just me or is this the time of year when we all fall into bad habits? We stay up late to attend holiday parties. We drink too much alcohol. We eat too many cookies and throw our healthy diets out the door.

Then, come January 1st, we expect to reverse all of these bad habits and go back to our typical routines. We set new goals and hold ourselves accountable to stick to them. Until February 1st rolls around and motivation once again declines…

I’ll admit. I’m guilty of this right now. I’m home with my parents for the holidays and my morning routine has gone to shit. I’ve been sleeping in, skipping workouts, and staying up too late watching HBO. And I feel awful doing all of this!

December is the month that tests all of the hard work we’ve put in the whole year. It has the ability to make or break you. You either fall down a slippery slope into old bad habits and start the new year off on the wrong foot, or you stay strong in the routines you’ve set for yourself, setting yourself up for success in the new year.

I’m writing this to hold myself and you accountable. We need to return to the healthy habits we set for ourselves months ago. We need to continue eating our nutritious diet, but still enjoying a few…
